United World Colleges: a prologue

UWC schools, colleges and programs deliver a challenging and transformative educational experience to a diverse cross section of students, inspiring them to create a more peaceful and sustainable future.

In short, UWC colleges allocate students from more than 100 countries to 15 different schools scattered across the globe and provide them with an exclusive environment to study the IB Diploma, experience intense cultural exchange and devote themselves into serving their host country.

I am privileged enough to be granted the opportunity to spend my next two years (’15-’17) at the United World College of the Adriatic (UWCAD) in Trieste, Italy. Being accepted into a UWC school has fueled my dream to share my thoughts to the world, so following the footsteps of other UWC bloggers, I too started my blog hoping to promote the UWC belief to the greater majority and record my babysteps in self-actualization.

UWCAD and its majestic landscape. yup, you are welcomed ;P

Hopefully you would find my upcoming journals regarding my life at UWCAD entertaining. If you have any questions about the UWC movement, don’t hesitant to drop a few question marks below!

Saluti!

  1. Hi! Im from HK too, and i was wondering, what made you choose Adriatic? I’m trying to figure out what’s most special about each of the 15 UWCs I’m applying to. (I know i should have already but my choices were prejudiced by the “trend” of my classmates going to England/ Canada so i put UWCAC as my 1st choice, lpc as my 2nd and Pearson my 3rd)
I just finished my challenge day yesterday and was told I can still email the admissions director if I had a change of heart about my college preferances.

    • Hello audrey!!
I am glad you took interest in Ad. I chose adriatic mainly because I reckon the open campus provides us with the opportunity to really “live” in Italy, but not just in a bubble of a confined environment. In the college we meet people from the village in Duino on daily basis, and of course, we have the Adriatic sea pretty much to ourselves. I was interested in the Italian culture (influenced by Godfather and all the mafia craze), so learning Italian (the slangs!!) is an exotic and challenging thing for me.
Good luck to everything, I’d be glad to answer more of your questions!!!
